Mike Almeyda is an Enterprise Risk Management Strategist with Force 5, Inc., a leading risk-management company that helps power utility companies automatically enforce their compliance, safety, and security policies—at every point of entry in every location. Mike’s experience is rich in enterprise risk management and compliance for power utilities. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in computer science (United States Military Academy at West Point) and Master of Science in enterprise risk management (New York University). At PowerGen, Mike will speak to the risk we see across power utilities in every region. At points of entry (gates, PSP entries, lobbies, substations, etc.), many utilities use a fragmented technology stack across their enterprise, and we’re seeing higher risk profiles than necessary. A decorated combat veteran and U.S. Army Ranger, Mike’s experience includes regulatory compliance and corporate utility-sector work, including as a CIP Compliance Auditor with SERC, Manager of Power Delivery Reliability Standards & Compliance and Manager of Training and Execution Assurance for Florida Power and Light, and Manager of Business Process & Risk Assessment for SERC. In these roles, Mike’s mission was to help power utility companies drastically reduce their compliance, safety, and security risk. He has provided direct oversight to compliance sustainability and quality assurance for NERC Reliability Standards. He’s led compliance activities, ensuring full compliance with all legislative and regulatory initiatives, as well as reviewed cyber security and infrastructure protection compliance protocols and procedures, ensuring complete alignment with national and regional regulatory requirements. Force 5’s flagship product, Gatekeeper, is a turnkey hardware-software solution that provides active enforcement and drastically reduces safety, security, and compliance risk at every point of entry, enterprise-wide.
